How to create a quote

  1. Add your logo and your business details in the top left.
  2. Fill in who the quote is for, the quote number, the date and how long the price is valid.
  3. Add a line for each product or service, with the quantity and the rate.
  4. Add tax, a discount or shipping if you need them. The total updates as you type.
  5. Pick a theme, colour and font, then press Download PDF.

What to include on a quote

  • Your business name, address and contact details, plus your tax or VAT number if you have one.
  • Your client’s name and address.
  • A quote number, the date and a "valid until" date, so the price does not stand forever.
  • A clear description of the work, with quantity, rate and amount for each line.
  • Subtotal, any discount, tax and shipping, and the total.
  • Your terms: what is included, what is not, and how changes are priced.

Frequently asked questions

Is this quote generator really free?

Yes. Create and download as many quotes as you like. There is no signup, no watermark and no limit.

Is my quote data stored anywhere?

Not on our servers. Your quote is built entirely in your browser. Drafts and your history are saved only in this browser on this device, and you can delete them at any time from History. We measure visits and downloads with analytics tools, which never see what you type.

What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?

An estimate is a rough idea of the cost and can change. A quote is a fixed price for the work described, usually valid until a set date. This tool works for both: click the title and type Estimate if you prefer.

How long should a quote be valid?

Many businesses use 14 to 30 days. Set the Valid Until date so your client knows when the price ends.

Can I add my logo and change the colours?

Yes. Upload a PNG or JPG logo up to 1 MB, choose from 8 themes, pick any accent colour and choose one of 6 fonts.

Which currencies can I use?

Any currency your browser knows, from US dollars and euros to rupees and yen. You can also choose how numbers and dates are written, and whether the PDF is A4 or US Letter.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. The quote generator works on phones, tablets and computers, and the PDF looks the same on every device.

How do I get a quote signed?

Download the PDF and send it to your client, or use CloveDesk, where clients sign quotes online and you both keep a signed copy.

Working with clients every week?

CloveDesk gives each client a workspace with quotes, e-signatures, invoices, files and expenses, plus a portal your client can log in to.
